Make Homemade Ginger Soda

By

Easy to use recipe.

If you enjoy ginger and you like buying giner ale from the store, have you ever considered making it yourself? Surprisingly it very easy to make. And doesn't require the 50 different ingredients that the store bought ginger drink contains. Its a good family fun project to do with the kids to show them not everything that is tasty comes out of an aluminum can.

Ingredients

-2 cups freshly diced ginger root (note: instead of diced you can cut them into larger pieces depending on how strong you want your ginger ale)

-1/2 gallon of water

-1 juices of a lemon

-2 cups of sugar

-Club soda (no specific amount needed but understand that 1/2 of ginger ale syrup will use about 2 2liters bottles of club soda. (club soda, seltzer water, carbonated water)

Equipment Needed

-1 1/2 gallon jar (or something to store finished syrup in)

-1 pot large enough to boil 1/2 gallon of water

-stirring stick

-Barry White's song track sporting the song "You are my First, my last, my everything"

The Process

Step 1: Fill your large pot with 1/2 gallon of water. Begin to bring this to a boil.

Step 2. While the pot of water is on its way to boiling add the following ingredients. 2 cups of ginger, lemon juice.

Step 3: Allow concoction to boil for about 2 minutes then reduce to simmer. Hold on simmer for 30 minutes.

Step 4. After 30 minutes turn off heat. Pour content into Jar. Note: The ginger pieces can either be left in there, or partially or fully removed. Its up to you. I personally leave a few pieces allowing for the syrup to increase in strength.

Step 5: Once liquid has cooled. Server with ice and club soda. The mixture is usually around 65 percent club soda. 35 percent syrup. If you leave the syrup in the refrigerator or let it sit for a longer period of time the strength of the syrup will increase and you might want to change your mixture.

Step 6. Put on Barry White and enjoy the taste of love.

Enjoy.
